World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

A horror novel that gets a lot of mixed reviews, but I really liked it. 

House Of Leaves: the prizewinning and terrifying cult classic that will turn everything you thought you knew about life (and books!) upside down

The Elementals

I have yet to see the film of this, but this has a nice 90s horror novel quality to it.

The Ritual: Adam Nevill

More crime than horror but I found some of this book quite disturbing, as it's written mostly from a childs POV. Recommended esp if you're interested in books about cults and american religious extremism. 

THE GIRL IN THE RED COAT

A tiny, tiny, tiny book on grief and demons and god and sadness. One of my all time favourites.

Grief Is the Thing with Feathers: Max Porter

One of the most horrible and heartbreaking books I've ever read that isn't marketed as horror at all. But it fits on that shelf imo. Really enjoyed it, though is a bit more of a heavier read.
