My favourite translation of the Odyssey! And Emily Wilson (the author) is coming out with a translation of the Iliad this September! 

The Odyssey 

This is my copy of El Primer Nueva Crónica y Buen Gobierno. Its an abridged version that has been translated into English. There are no complete English translations and the original is written in a combination of Spanish and the Cusco-Collao dialect of Quechua. It documents 6000 years of pre-colonial Quechuan history in the first part and the second is a critique of the current government of the time of writing (Late 16th Century). The author Wuaman Poma/Felipe de Ayala is my favourite historian and was the son of two former nobles of the Incan empire. Its a wonderful example of indigenous history and the Quechuan people's perspective on time and their history. 

First New Chronicle And Good Government

This is my #1 rec for retellings of the Iliad, it portrays the harshness of war and how the vulnerable end up as ignored collateral damage. Its well written and a great intro before reading the actual text!
